Ricky Coussins Profile

Profile

Ricky Coussins’ career in marketing began in 1972 when he worked for a division of the multinational conglomerate Litton Industries.

In the late 1970’s he joined Rank Xerox where he worked first in field sales (and sales management) and then moved back into marketing being responsible for exploring the potential of new products.  He left Xerox in 1981 to work for a European based translation company as Sales and Marketing Director.  In the mid-1980's he was recruited to British Telecom working first with BT's system house, NDPS, as Packaged Products Business Unit Manager and then in Mobile Communications as network marketing manager, where he worked on the marketing of the first generation of cell phone / mobile communications.

He started his own consultancy and training business in 1989.

Ricky now supplies a range of marketing consultancy services across the whole spectrum of the strategic and tactical marketing mix, including:

  • Understanding marketing service businesses
  • Analysing opportunities in new markets
  • Reviewing market entry options for new products
  • Field research and desk analysis
  • Marketing workshops to produce marketing strategies and plans
  • Assisting with implementation of those plans and marketing communications planning and management
  • Channel and sales management
  • Providing marketing mentoring support, marketing problem diagnosis (through his own Marketing Multipoint Analysis Process or MMAP) and internal brand alignment

As an experienced consultant, with somewhere in the region of 60% of his time spent in providing consultancy services, his approach to consultancy is to help clients integrate their marketing messages to provide maximum return on the marketing investment and help those organisations sell more.  Ricky not only provides training but is also a highly experience workshop facilitator, running strategic workshop sessions in marketing and competitor strategy, market development and market focused organisational change.

Conferences are another area Ricky has experience of.  He speaks regularly on a variety of conference platforms including the Insitute of Directors (where he is a keynote speaker and chair of their highly popular "How To Become A Consultant" workshop) and the CBI and spends about 40% of his time in providing a wide variety of training workshops in a comprehensive range of sales and marketing skills.
